TFP&D will go with a military style uniform- We take pride in being a paramilitary organization and this style is the dominant (by far) style chosen by fire department across the Unites States including all Arizona fire pipe bands. Our color theme will be red, black, white, silver. We tried to work in blue with red in the kilt but the intersection of the two colors creates purple. The white stripes over red and black really pops and adds a "dress" touch. We wanted a lot of contrast to stand out and it is impossible to get more contrast than black and white. We will have a class B uniform for most occasions and eventually a class A for top honors.

CLASS B UNIFORM

KILT- Key element of the entire uniform. We have taken the Bakers advice into consideration and have decided we need a kilt with a predominent red background. People do associate red with the fire dept. There are hundreds of variations and we have to limit options for sanity. We will also choose 16 oz. wool and a kilt crafted with 8+ yards of material. They will be hand stitched as well.

TARTAN- In order to design our own tartan, the cost would increase as well as the production time. For our own design, the mills claim 6+ months from order date to weave and make the kilts. By choosing an existing tartan we will cut production time in half and also reduce cost. FYI, computer images of tartans are not accurate of color or scale.

SHIRT- White, lightweight, button up, long sleave dress shirt. Choice of band patch on both shoulders, or TFD patch with pipe band patch on shoulders.
(Variation- short sleave shirt, button up)

TIE- black, to be worn with white shirt

HEADWEAR- Glengarry cap, black with optional custom badge and red feather

SHOES- TFD Thurogood issue shoes, comfortable, no spit shining, FREE!

SPATS- white, worn over top of shoes and hose

HOSE- Black with red flashes

SGIAN DUBHS-(small knife) Choose your own or buy to match

KILT PIN- Mackenzie Family clan badge has an image of a burning mountain and quote "I shine, not burn"

BELT- Black leather with silver buckle

SPORRAN- Black horsehair with white horse hair tassles. Will be able to attach maltese cross logo or our own to front of sporran. The white horse hair is rather cream color and clashes with the true white of spats and tartan. The white tassles with black background tricks the eye making it seem more true white

CLASS A UNIFORM - All the above plus...

MILITARY DOUBLET- black with white piping and silver buttons and option shoulder wings

Future options can include cross belts, plaids, feather bonnets, etc. but not necessary
